#BQ1920 – A Very Scarce and Fine Large Bore Original Edo-period Japanese Matchlock (Wall Gun) – $8500.00
The barrel having a desirable tulip form muzzle and octagonal section. The top surface with a fine silver inlay in the form of a Japanese kanji while the underside of the stock has an inlayed silver hanabishi (diamond flower) family Mon (crest) most often associated with the Takeda family. The stock is completely finished in lustrous black lacquer with a few very small nicks and rubs. This lacquer was recently professionally restored. The serpentine hammer is handforged iron while the other stock furniture is brass. The underside of the barrel has a long maker’s signature. Guns of this size and fine quality are extremely desirable and valuable. 101 cm. overall, with a very heavy iron barrel; about a 3/4" bore.
