# BQ2349 - U.S. War of 1812 Period Sword, Owned and Carried by Johannah Fox - $ 1440.00

This sword is an unmarked early American example that has the look of a Starr 1808 contract pattern Militia Cavalry Saber. It is iron mounted with hardwood grip and brownish black age patina to all metal elements. In fine original condition; the grip with age cracks and missing its leather cover. Affixed to the blade is an old paper label that states, "My Sword from Second War with Great Britain 1812 Johannah[?] Fox". Included with this lot is an original 1812 Service Pension Claim from Mr. Fox, dated 1878. A very fine sword with documentation. 83.5 cm. overall, lacking scabbard.
