# BQ2574 - Edo Period Kaga Fujishima Tomoshige O-Wakizashi with Koshirae - $ 1920.00

A very attractive shinogi-zukuri sword with good original polish. It was surrendered near the very end of the war by a Japanese naval Captain when his mine sweeper was captured by the U.S. The nakago is ubu with two holes and is signed, "Kaga Fujiwara Tomoshige". It has an excellent cleaned copper habaki that is engraved with a family mon and stone wall design. The hamon is an attractive choji-gunome. The Edo period tsuba is in a thick hand forged iron fighting style. The tsuka is original Edo period with faded purple silk ito wrap over good same. The fittings include matched quality period handachi style engraved shibuichi fuchi/kashira and a fine matched pair of shakudo menuki with gold details. The subject is chrysanthemum blooms. The saya is in professionally restored black lacquer. The condition is very good with one slight closed fukure above the hamon. A very good signed wakizashi with an interesting provenance which will be included with sale. 53.5cm. blade nagasa.
