A Continental European or Scandinavian Heavy Cavalry Sabre, ca. 1800-1830 -- price reduced!! - $
950.00
An unusual brass-mounted heavy cavalry sword of large proportion, with five-bar guard and downturned disk type rear quillon. Completely unmarked, the blade with wide fuller and flat back. Unbound ribbed leather grip. Iron scabbard with two loose rings on brass bands and brass drag. Overall GC; some of the bars of the hilt have brazed repairs, well done and possibly working life repairs. The blade sharpened, with a dull grey patina and with a few edge nicks, probably period. The hilt also with a good patina. The leather grip dry and with a couple of small losses but remarkably well preserved. Scabbard excellent with no dents and nice, dark brown patina. Blade 91.6cm, overall in scabbard 109cm.
