# BQ2739 - An Outstanding Late Koto Period Japanese Katchushi Sukashi Iron Katana Tsuba - $ 1020.00

An outstanding late Koto period Japanese Katchushi sukashi iron katana tsuba, ca. 1500. Thin, handforged iron plate with an overall punch mark texture, masterfully formed to create an upturned, slightly thickened, mimi. The simplistic sukashi represents Amida Buddah (rays of the sun). Small variations in the ray size create a very active tension in the total design. Hard to improve on this one. 9.1 cm. H. x 8.9 cm. W. x 3 mm. thick at the mimi.
