# TT2 - A Tuareg Takouba, ca. 1900 - $ 175.00

A Mahdist period takouba with leather hilt and bronze conical pommel of traditional form, in its original leather scabbard. Indigenously forged blade with narrowed spatulate point and three short fullers to either side, also stamped to either side with crescent moon faces. The scabbard with tooled designs, tin mounts with openwork and two hanging bands. One hanging band and a portion of the other is now missing. Overall fair condition; fragile and age-worn with stresses to leather components in spots. Blade 71 cm., overall in scabbard 88 cm.
