# 1001-32 - A Late 19th Century Fencing Saber for the U.S. Market - $ 550.00

A late 19th century German-made fencing saber with robust cup-type guard and knucklebow. Hardwood grip, slightly tapered at the ends, with deep ribbed pattern. Small domed pommel. Slender, slightly curved blade with narrow fuller running 2/3 of its length. Stamped to the obverse ricasso "MADE IN GERMANY" implying 1890's or later importation into the US, and "J.H. Lau, NEW YORK." Overall good condition with excellent dark patina throughout. Blade 83 cm., overall approx. 101 cm.
