# 1001-29 - A French Contract Pattern Saber for Chile - $ 575.00

A rare French contract pattern saber with ribbed hard rubber grip and pierced steel bowl guard. Slightly curved blade, inscribed at the spine "Manufacture d'arms de Chatellerault J.H." The initials are for Jacob Holtzer. The reverse of the blade bears a Chilean crest with star enclosed, and the obverse is stamped with a 'B' and 'C', both within circular cartouches. The basket with numerous issue stamps including "89-4-C-P-16." Steel scabbard with single loose ring. The hilt retains its original leather buffer. Overall good used condition with abrasions to blade and scabbard.
