# BQ2970 - A Scarce Model 1856 Enfield Short Rifle Musketoon - $ 2520.00

This fine rifle is the short two band version which was imported to the Confederacy in large quantity during the early years of the American Civil War. It has a .577 cal. rifled barrel with various inspection stamps. This model was known as a Sergeant's Rifle in the British army. The lock is stamped with Crowned VR and "TOWER 1856." The stock carries both the WD broad arrow, "WINBURN" and "I. JOHNSON" stamps. We believe the ramrod may be a replacement and the rear sling swivel is missing. Fine original period condition with scattered minor surface rust and stock dents and scratches. 102 cm. overall.
