# MCS2 - A Mexican Cavalry Saber, ca. 1860, with Leather Covered Hilt - $ 450.00

A mid-19th century Mexican cavalry saber with curved blade and iron hilt completely covered in leather and retaining the original leather knot. The blade with single wide stopped fuller, displaying traces of a starburst stamp at the obverse ricasso. Overall GC; the blade with a fine dull grey patina. The leather treated with Pecards, the hilt covering stable but with minor leather loss mostly at the pommel and with openings to the stitching. The tassel fragile, cracked and subject to flaking. Blade 85 cm., overall 94.5 cm.
