# 1002-98 - A Fine Moro Panabas - $ 695.00

A good and large Moro panabas with hardwood handle retained by three iron bands, the handle of slightly flattened hexagonal section at the butt, graduating to a round section in the grip area. The butt with incised circumferential lines at either end. The heavy, functional blade with filed patterns at the spine and further decorative filework approaching the flared end, showing good lamination and linear striation. Overall fine condition; the panabas is by its nature a beheading sword and shows clear indication of such use with several period nicks in the cutting zone. Excellent original patina to both wood and metal, with the blade showing areas of dark spotting and light to moderate pitting. The extreme tip rolled. Blade 65.5 cm., overall 100.7 cm.
