A WWI Period Prussian Cavalry Sabre - $
195.00
A German cavalry sabre modeled on the M1889 cavalry pallasch. Quillback blade, stamped at the reverse forte "PACK OHLIGER & CO. /SOLINGEN" (probably a retailer, working 1915-1918*). Steel hilt mounts with bakelite grip. Gerd Maier indicates export of these sabres to Romania, with evidence provided for usage by German troops during WWI, and they were likely exported elsewhere as well. Overall fair to poor condition; field sharpened, blade heavily pitted, lacking scabbard, large chip to the grip (probably a period chip as the edges are worn smooth). Overall 95.4 cm., blade 80.7 cm.
