Tang signed “Kanemitsu” and dated "Showa Nineteenth Year" (1944). This refers to Takeuchi Kanemitsu, listed in Slough's “Modern Japanese Swordsmiths” on page 49, listed as Rikugun Jumei tosho. In army officer’s shingunto mounts. The saya lacquer professionally restored; original mounts are in excellent condition wth the ito slightly loose. Ubu nakago with one mekugi ana. The blade with gunome midare hamon, having a few light scuffs, surface oxidization and two tiny edge nicks. 62.2 cm. nagasa.
