# BQ2002 - A WWII Period Army Officer’s Shingunto Mounted Katana - $ 1085.00

The blade is ubu mumei from the WWII period (Showa) with no forging flaws. The edge lightly abraded from what appears to be rubbing from a sharpening stone. The hada is muji and the hamon medium suguha with areas of gunome; near the kissaki the temper swells and nearly touches the shinogi line. Almost the entire kissaki (tip) is tempered. The activity in the temper would seem to indicate a gendai blade but this may be a very good oil tempered example. Original mounts in overall good condition. The same and wrap slightly loose; care must be taken in removing the tsuka. Saya with one tiny dent and small areas of paint loss. This would make a fine martial arts weapon or display but does not warrant a professional polish. 106 cm. overall, with 64.3 cm. blade nagasa.
